Hugh Benson

My relationship with clay started almost as soon as I was born with my mother taking me with her to the evening leisure class which she attended. I still have one of the ‘snakes’ which were my favourite thing to make as a small child. Through the years I have developed my skills whenever I had the opportunity, making more technically demanding pieces. These days my work spans all the making techniques from throwing and slip casting to hand building and sculpting. My motivation comes from my need to ‘make’. I hope the look of my pottery pleases your eye, and its touch, your hand.
