Cathy Rounthwaite

I am an artist and maker, working in print, textiles and more recently ceramics. Exploring the qualities of materials and processes is important, combined with the use of form, shape, texture and structure to express an idea or thought. Of particular interest is experimenting with the unexpected outcomes of smoke firing and raku to create colour, pattern and texture. I am particularly drawn to working in ceramics as it combines function with decorative and sculptural qualities.

Alongside House of Clay, I am also studio holder and founder member of Hazlehurst Studios in Runcorn, and a member of Markmakers artist collective.
